What is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques, which are gentle yet powerful techniques that involve tapping on pressure points around the upper body and face. Commonly referred to as “tapping," EFT combines psychotherapies,  such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Exposure Therapy,  with somatic stimulation using self-applied acupressure to help release physical, emotional, and psychological blocks.

EFT is also referred to as “psychological acupressure” because  these tapping points are the same meridians in traditional acupuncture. The firm but gentle tapping stimulates the meridians to release ‘blocked energy’ and to restore balance in the energy system. More common than not,  people store unresolved emotions in their bodies. Tapping on the meridians releases these unresolved emotions and can aid in reprogramming the subconscious mind.

EFT is a simple and effective way to reduce stress and calm the nervous system. It has been shown to help with cravings, phobias, relationship issues, sleep disturbances, and weight loss. EFT is an easy self-help tool to manage daily emotional balance, however, working with a Certified EFT Practitioner can provide the safety and support to explore the deeper emotional parts and past experiences that are challenging to get to alone.

Together, client and practitioner tap to the ‘root’ of the problem.

This video explains the science behind taping from well-known professionals in the field.
